Oh no, the Dragon’s Dogma and FFVII Celebration Streams are at the same time

I made a commitment to not covering any more Summer of Games stuff, but this hit me like a ton of bricks.

Today at 5:00 PM CST/11:00 PM BST, Capcom will be hosting a brief stream celebrating the tenth anniversary of Dragon’s Dogma, its cult-classic fantasy RPG, whom fans have been clamoring for a sequel for years, at the official Dragon’s Dogma YouTube channel.

The description on the video reads, “Hideaki Itsuno, director of Dragon’s Dogma, shares a message for the 10th anniversary of Dragon’s Dogma.” Many fans have already spun this into, “there’s going to be a Dragon’s Dogma 2 announcement!”

Also today at 5:00 PM CST/11:00 PM BST, Square Enix will be hosting a brief stream celebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary of Final Fantasy VII, the remake of which came out to immense critical and popular acclaim two years ago, at the official Square Enix YouTube channel.

The description on the video reads, “In this show we will be bringing you all the latest information relating to the 25th anniversary of FINAL FANTASY VII.” Many fans have already spun this into, “there’s going to be a Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2 announcement!”

Y’all, I… These are two of the most intense corners of the internet, and if there is anything less than the announcements fans hope there will be (and even if they get everything they want), Twitter is going to be simply unusable for the following 12 hours.

So I am writing this post in hopes that folks can take appropriate precautions, including boarding all windows, preparing your long-term emergency kits, and making ready to move to a storm cellar or the centermost part of your home when the storm hits.

God help us all.
