Bungie announced a new launch window for Destiny 2′s fall DLC, Shadowkeep. Instead of September 17, Guardians will have until October 1 to get up to the current light level of 750 and complete any last Season 7 activities they want to complete.
The reason for the delay?
“It has become increasingly clear to us that our releases for this Fall would benefit from a bit more time in the oven,” according to a post from the dev team published today. “Being independent means that the future of Destiny 2 is entirely on our team. It also means that we’re agile enough to choose to do what’s best for the game and our players, even if it’s the hard choice.”
As a veteran of the first two years of Destiny 2′s existence, a bit more time in the oven sounds just fine.
Some other news related to this: The World’s First race for the “Garden of Salvation” raid will start on Saturday, October 5. Also, Moments of Triumph will continue through September 17, and there will be (presumably the season finale) Iron Banner that week as well.
How are Destiny players taking the news? On r/DestinyTheGame, many players praised the weekend raid race. One Redditor replied, “That’s fine, take your time, would rather have Shadowkeep be good than early.” Another expressed concern about the possibility of crunch for the development team.
One Guardian replied to the news, “Totally fine with this. I like my hive well-done.” Community Manager Cozmo replied, “Bring a steak knife.”
Oh, and according to Bungie, their cross save feature is coming online “well ahead of Shadowkeep.” Like, end of August. So that’s rad.
