First Impressions: Summer Catchers

I’m kind of in a post-Kentucky Route Zero emotional comedown moment or something.. I haven’t played many new games lately, just older stuff on Xbox Game Pass like Dishonored 2 and Alien: Isolation, so I haven’t really felt that writing bug overcome me again. That said, tonight a new iOS game that caught my attention came out: Summer Catchers, by Noodlecake and FaceIT.

I’m only in the first area, but it seems pretty cute so far: a girl who lives in the cold and snowy north wants to experience summer, so she enlists the help of a wolf woodsman who builds her a car to travel in. As of now it feels like a side-scrolling endless runner with some neat puzzle mechanics, a great soundtrack, and no microtransactions (It’s $3.99).

I could see myself really sinking hours into the game, but right now I’m laughably bad at it. Still, it’s neat, it’s available now, and so far it seems like it could be a good use of time!
